Last year at this time...
I was planning a birthday party for our little man.
His first, to be exact.
JJ still fit in my lap and was permanently attached to my hip.
He was round and rollie pollie, quite unlike the skinny string bean he is today.
He still slept comfortably in our bed and, even when he did lay sideways, there was still room for the rest of us.
Those were days of many diapers, many bottles and trying my best to stay up on his constant demand for food.
In those days we cuddled a lot more and we up and about a lot less.
In those day...
those chubby little legs still hadn't taken their first steps and that darling four toothed grin often graced our presents.
Those were the days of baby...my baby.
Now we talk of trucks and cars,
airplanes and dirt.
We go on long walks and mama tries to keep up with those busy little legs.
We laugh at jokes together.
We build things, we read together and explore the world of art together.
He knows how to count and his ABC's.
Diapers are almost a thing of the past and things like pacifiers are long gone.
We have conversations.
We laugh.
We cry.
He teaches me to much.
